Few other workshops give you the benefit of two experienced guides with diverse personal styles and a broad range of expertise. Join acclaimed photographers, teachers, and authors Guy Tal and Michael Gordon for Visionary Death Valley and find out what makes this workshop unique, passion-filled, and inspiring to photographers of all levels. A perfect blend of photography, field classes, post-production, and passionate photographer/instructors all in one of the most visually stunning places on Earth has earned this workshop praise as “a tour de force of excellence, humanity, artistry, and knowledge”. There are many photography workshops and instruction manuals that teach craft and technique. Only Visionary Death Valley will lead you toward the heart of your art.

Death Valley National Park is a desert wonderland of immense scale, beauty and power. Its 3.3 million acres, the vast majority of which are roadless wilderness, encompass a staggering array of landscapes, unique geologic formations and colorful vistas. The largest National Park in the contiguous United States, Death Valley is both beautiful to behold and rich in history, mood and mystique. Its towering sand dunes, seasonally snow-capped mountains, warm springs and vast empty valleys offer endless opportunity for exploration and ample subject matter for the creative artist. There’s no place on Earth quite like it.

Guy and Michael have carefully selected some of the park’s most unique locations for this workshop, combining outstanding photography with inspirational, creative and technical discussion sessions. In addition to classes in the field, Guy and Michael will work individually with participants to address questions, assist with compositions and technical details, and share their knowledge. Discussions will include informative reviews and critique sessions of each participant’s images made during the workshop.

This will be an intensive workshop! Expect pre-dawn starts, late finishes, outstanding locations, a unique lesson plan and, of course, great fun and camaraderie. This workshop is designed to accommodate all camera formats and all skill levels, digital or film. Our goal is to both introduce you to the beauty of Death Valley and to help you advance your photography through creative and personal expression, beyond the obvious iconic views. For the fullest and most enjoyable experience, we urge that all participants be in good health, have good physical conditioning, and be able to comfortably walk 3-4 miles per day with camera gear. An SUV or other rugged high-clearance vehicle is required as we will be driving dirt and gravel roads to most of our locations.
